Je retiens de ma jeunesse deux faits marquants; mon amour pour la faune et mon habileté à dessiner. L’art animalier s’est imposé de façon très naturelle. Bien que je privilégie la faune comme sujet de création,mon cheminement artistique et ma curiosité m'amènent parfois à explorer d’autres avenues.
La liberté dans les choix de mes sujets demeure un élément essentiel à mon équilibre. Sans ce sentiment, mon effort de peintre semblerait dérisoire et sa poursuite sans intérêts. Mais au-delà, des sujets, mes préoccupations restent, à la base, celles qui gouvernent toute peinture. La composition, les formes et la couleur sont en elles-mêmes un langage par lequel le tableau parle.
Mon énergie créatrice trouve sa source lorsque je tente de créer une illusion, de transmettre une émotion, de maîtriser et de saisir l’insaisissable. Pour y parvenir, l’art figuratif est à mon sens l’école parfaite pour apprendre tout sur la nature subtile de la peinture. Je ne parviendrai certainement pas à déchiffrer tout des infinies possibilités qu’elle peut offrir, mais un jour, peut-être à 110 ans, je pourrai dire: « moi et la couleur, nous ne formons qu’un. Je suis peintre. »

What I remember most from my youth is two things; my love of nature and my ability to draw. Drawing and painting animals came to me very naturally. Although my emphasis is placed on creating art of fauna, my curiosity and artistic venture at times, leads me down diverse paths.
The freedom I have, in choosing my subjects, remains an essential element in my equilibrium. Without this emotion, my effort to paint would seem a derision and a pursuit without interest. Besides the choice of subjects, my basic concerns remain those which govern all art. Composition, shapes and color form the language that allows the painting to communicate with its viewer.
My creative energy comes from attempting to create an illusion, to transmit an emotion, to master and capture the impossible. To achieve this, representational art is, in my opinion, the perfect school to learning everything about the subtle nature of painting. I am certainly not able to decipher the many infinite possibilities that painting offers, but one day, maybe at 110 years of age, I will be able to say: “ Color and I, we form but one. I am an artist.”
